The Jigsaw Puzzle with Photoshop CS-4

The Video runs for 34 minutes

This is a great tutorial for the newer user of Photoshop CS-4 as it covers a number of different techniques and disciplines that help us to get the best results from our software. The end result is a picture that is creative and eye catching, if we get our manipulations right of course. It's also a good tutorial because we need to use layers to achieve the end result and layers are probably the most important part of Photoshop. To demonstrate a great method of cloning next to objects that need protection, we even use a layer mask too. All intermediate work, but a technique that you can put in the bank and use over and over again.

Like all Photoshop techniques we need to choose the right image for this to work well. It needs to be one where the composition allows the effect to enhance that composition and the subject matter needs to be right too. Nothing too detailed or fussy or the jigsaw texture can be lost. If you try to apply the jigsaw texture in Photoshop CS4, you may be surprised to find that it is not now included in the installation as it was in previous versions of Photoshop. These extra textures are now found on the contents disk that is a part of the software disks, or they can be downloaded via the Internet. In this video we demonstrate where to find them and how to locate them on your computer. Resolution of the image also plays a large part in the success of any added filter or texture in Photoshop and here we demonstrate why clearly.
